UUFR will be providing lunch on Wednesday, November 29 for about 70 homeless people at Love Wins Ministries, a nonprofit organization located in the community center behind Trinity United Methodist Church in Raleigh. Their pastor, Rev. Hugh Hollowell, spoke at a UUFR service in September and has been a guest speaker over the years. Love Wins provides meals, job training, housing, and pastoral care for the homeless and at-risk population of Raleigh. “[They] minister to people who, because of their economic circumstances, their addictions, their social status, their sexuality, or any combination of these, are not welcome in church.” The lunch we provided in September during LEAP was so successful that we have decided to do it again! In addition to providing food, UUFR members came along to serve the food and stay for lunch. There is a Signup Genius for it on the UUFR website. The menu is pasta (both red and white sauces), salad, garlic bread, and dessert. We have made a good start with sign-ups but are still in need of some items. Half pans and recipes will be available in the kitchen after the auction. Contacts: Linda Liles at [email protected] or 919.215.2305 OR Ruthie Rodelander at [email protected].
