Please check out the new display in the glass case outside Founders Hall for examples of charity stitching created by members and friends of the UUFR Stitchers group. Begun in May 2018, the group has donated more than 400 handmade items to local and regional charities, including Love Wins Ministry for the homeless in Raleigh, and nests for baby animals needed by the Carolina Waterfowl Rescue near Charlotte. The current project is knitting hats, headbands and “lovies” for children in ICE detention centers.
The group meets the 2nd and 4th Thursdays at 10:00 am in the Teen Cave. All skill levels of knitting or crocheting are welcome. Even if you can’t attend the group sessions, we welcome your handmade knitted or crocheted items — and we always welcome new members! For more information, contact Judy Edmonston.
