Volunteers: We Need You . . .

Peace Booth Volunteers at the State Fair: October 17 – Every year UUFR staffs the Peace Booth at the NC State Fare for a half day on opening day. Our day is October 17, and we need help from 3:00-5:00 pm and 5:00-7:00 pm. Volunteers work in teams of two for each time slot. In addition to receiving a free pass to the fair (for persons under 65; persons 65 and older are entitled to free fair admission), you will have an opportunity to engage fair-goers and get them to ponder Peace. Contact Jane Hunt.

Sunday Morning Coffee Makers – No experience needed. Partner with an experienced server and work a couple of hours every two months. This fun experience is a great way to meet people. Contact Bonnie Latham to get started!

Knitters/Crocheters, Sit and Stitch for Justice – The UUFR Stitchers and friends are working with the Immigrant and Refugee Ministry Team that will furnish an apartment for a refugee family settling in the Raleigh area. As part of the project, the Stitchers would like to provide handmade blankets for the family(ies). The plan is to provide 10-inch squares — knitted or crocheted in a pattern and color of your choosing — to be incorporated by Nancy Devereux into a finished blanket for adults and/or children. The yarn should be worsted weight and acrylic for easy care. The main requirement is that the squares meet the 10×10 size criteria. We will be happy to provide yarn if you need it. Please contact Louise LaPlant or Judy Edmonston to volunteer or if you need yarn.
