Note that Sunday school and OWL resumes this Sunday, December 8. We will be exploring this month’s theme of “Awe.”
NEW Children’s Choir– We are thrilled to announce that our music director, Scott McKenzie, and our NEW Volunteer Children’s Music Coordinator Shannon Neu, will be launching a Children’s Choir! This group will meet regularly after Sunday service from 12:15-12:45 pm for rehearsal and will occasionally perform in Children’s Chapel and worship services. Join us for an initial information session and carol rehearsal on Sunday, December 15 after service. Parents are asked to attend this first meeting with their child(ren).
All-Ages Celebration – Join us on Wednesday, December 18 at 7:00 pm for an all-ages celebration! We’ll start with sweets and socializing, and then UUFR Music Director, Scott McKenzie will lead us in singing favorite Christmas and other holiday songs. Scott will be joined by many of our favorite instrumentalists and singers. Families with children and youth are encouraged to attend! Childcare for younger children is available. This will be a fun and light-hearted celebration of this holiday season. Scott says if you sing well, there might be extra cookies for you!
High School Youth Group Holiday Party! The High School Youth Group will have its annual Holiday Party on Sunday, December 22. High Schoolers are invited to join us in Clara Barton from Noon-2:00 pm for food and fun. Please bring a wrapped gift for the White Elephant gift exchange. RE-gifted items are encouraged!
Youth Worship Helpers are needed for worship services on December 22, December 24 and December 29. There are many roles available each week, including youth ushers, chime ringer, and chalice lighter and reader. We would love to have one family help light the Christmas candles during the Christmas Eve service. If your child or your family would enjoy helping with worship, please sign up here: Youth Sunday Volunteers.
NEW Parents of Young Children Meet-Up Group – Parents and caregivers of children under age 3 are invited to meet in the nursery on Sunday, December 8, from 12:15-1:00 pm and Wednesday, December 18, from 5:30-6:30 pm. Bring your children for a chance to connect with fellow UUFR parents. Contact Elle Penley for details.
Remember, parents have access to an extensive Soul Matters resource packet on the theme each month. December’s theme is “Awe.” It is full of questions, games and activities that can help parents enforce the theme at home. Please use password UUFRsoulmatters to access this amazing resource.
