Religious Trends in the US and Implications for UUs, Led by Brandon Turner
The religious landscape in America is undergoing a major transformation. Christianity is shrinking, non-Christian religions such as Islam and Hinduism are growing, and the fastest growing “religion” in America are the “nones” (individuals who identify with no religious identity). This workshop will look at the numbers, explore the “why” behind the numbers, and predict what religion in the US will look like in the future. Time will be provided for participants to discuss the implications for the future of Unitarian Universalism in the US.
Brandon Turner teaches philosophy and critical thinking at Western Governor’s University. He earned his doctorate in Religion and Culture at The Catholic University of America (Washington, D.C.)
