UUFR has been volunteering with the Grocery Bags for Seniors (GBS) Program at the Interfaith Food Shuttle for over ten years. Because of COVID-19, the GBS program is being done differently, at least through the end of the 2020. They need small groups (up to 5 people) to provide a “NO-CONTACT” door to door distribution of groceries bags to partnered senior housing communities in Wake County. Using their own personal vehicles, volunteer drivers will report to the Food Shuttle location (1001 Blair Drive, Ste. 120, Raleigh, NC 27603) to pick up prepacked groceries bags, receive their route (s), and distribute door to door at senior site (s). UUFR is assigned to 3 sites and our shift time is from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm on the third Thursday of each month (August 20, September 17, October 15, November 19, December 17. I have to pre-register you before the date of service. Will you, your family, or your UUFR small group ministry or social justice ministry team sign up for one month between September and December? We need 4 volunteers in addition to me. Contact Sandy Pearce if you are interested.
