The Renovation Task Force led by David Prestrud continues to make excellent progress. As discussed in the September 13 Town Hall meeting (recap here), the project’s primary focus is on provements to Peace Hall, the older of our two buildings.
This project will move us a long way toward achieving the long-term Board goal of bringing our entire campus up to the standard of our sanctuary, but it will not complete all of the repairs and renovations we need. Both buildings still have major issues that will need to be addressed eventually. I’m pleased to report that last month your Board approved the task force’s use of additional funds for important additions to the project.
The Memorial Committee and the UUFR Foundation generously provided funding for these additions. Memorial Committee funds will be pay for a shower in Peace Hall, significantly enhancing the building’s use, especially for youth overnight activities. A grant from the UUFR Foundation will provide a new dishwasher in the Founders’ Hall kitchen as well as other appliances (to be determined) for either or both kitchens.
Let’s face it, the place is getting a facelift. The parking lot has already been repaved and repainted (also through the One Heart Fund). Solar panels are up and should be operational soon (pics here). Plans for the Peace Hall renovation have been sent to potential bidders and bids are arriving this week. Many of us are yearning to be together – in person as well as spirit – once again at the Fellowship. When that’s finally possible, we’ll be together in a nicer place.
