We are celebrating Halloween this year in a variety of ways! Join us for social events or in service, remotely or in person:
- Wednesday, October 28th, 7:00-8:00 pm – A Halloween Bonanza, Right On Your Screen! Join us for a spook-tacular Halloween right at home. This family-friendly event will include a special story, a scavenger hunt and a costume contest for children and the young at heart. Enter the contest to win special prizes! And if your computer allows you to switch up your zoom backgrounds, we need your help for a super-secret, special mission on the night of the party. We’re looking for three volunteers. Please email Liora by October 20. Bring your candy, your Halloween cheer and your spookiest stories to the gathering! Please sign up for the event here and join for a fun-filled night on Zoom HERE.
- Trunk or Treat Costume Parade (with Social Distancing)! Saturday, Oct. 31st, at 4pm. Weather and city ordinances permitting, we are brewing-up plans for a fun opportunity to wave at friends, show-off costumes, decorate our cars, and (of course) collect some candy! Keep your eye on Scoops for more details and contact [email protected] if you want to be part of the planning team. Sign up to support the event and/or to participate. Advanced registration is requested HERE.
- Halloween Cards for Refugee Children: For the past two years UUFR’s Immigrant and Refugee Justice Ministry Team has hosted a Halloween party for refugee children in collaboration with Lutheran Services. This is designed to entertain the children and familiarize them with a fun part of American culture. This year, due to the pandemic, we are unable to meet in person. Instead we plan to provide “Halloween in a Bag” treat bags with various small Halloween-themed items (and a little candy, of course) for 50 refugee children. Learn more and get involved HERE.
- Blood Drive: Friday, October 30th, 8:30 am – 1:00 pm – UUFR is once again teaming up with the American Red Cross. Details and sign-up link here.
