Fall “Back-to-School” Children’s Clothing Collection

The Immigrant and Refugee Justice Team will hold a second Learning Store for refugee children on November 11th. The children “earn money” by completing tasks provided and monitored by their community center teacher. They use their “money” to buy clothes provided by UUFR. There are two ways you can participate:
  • Donate new or clean, gently used fall and winter clothing, including pants, long sleeve shirts, sweaters, jackets, shoes, socks and hoodies for ages 3 to 16, roughly 3T to a youth size 16-18 or adult small. No books or toys; no used underwear. Clean your family closets and drawers and solicit donations from family and friends. Donations will be accepted on Fridays at the Action Parking Lot, 10:30 am-Noon, and on Wednesdays, October 27th and November 4th, 6:00-7:30 pm. A Collection Box will be available on Sundays in the Lower Lobby. The last day for donations is Friday, November 5th.
  • Volunteer to help on the day of the sale Thursday, November 11th. Volunteers will be needed in the morning to sort and display the clothes by size and gender, and then assist the shoppers in the afternoon. A Sign-up Genius will be distributed in late October for volunteers middle school and older youth and adult. A team leader will be onsite to assist the volunteers.
