I’m pretty sure we will all agree that timely performance evaluations are one essential aspect of optimizing an organization’s effectiveness. We use them to maintain and build on areas of strength, to mitigate areas of weakness, and to discover new opportunities.
Here at UUFR the Board of Directors is responsible for oversight of the Lead Minister, and the Lead Minister in turn supervises all other staff. Input from the congregation is one key to providing time, fair, and effective reviews. Although we can each provide feedback at any time during the year, now is the only time that feedback on staff performance is systematically gathered from UUFR’s most important constituency, the congregation.
Our opportunity to send feedback this year on performance of the ministers and other staff is between now and June 15. Please take a few minutes to visit https://www.uufr.org/evaluations/. This first page will lead you through a short process to provide feedback on performance of each staff member. Questions are few and open ended (“In fulfilling his job responsibilities, what has Rev. James done well? Please include specific examples.”). If you are unfamiliar with the work of the individual you needn’t fill out that form.
I just finished my input on the forms this morning and it took about 20 minutes (and I’m a wordy guy!). I provided feedback on 4 individuals. I view this as an important way to contribute to this UUFR community that I cherish. I hope you’ll follow suit.
