About the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Raleigh:
A church community for free religious expression

We Welcome You!

When discovering a Unitarian Universalist congregation for the first time, individuals often feel that they have finally arrived at their true church home. There is that sense of relief and gratitude that there are indeed others who enjoy exploring with an open mind the great questions of human existence; who consider non-traditional approaches to spiritual matters; and who view the natural world with a wide openness to its mysteries. The atmosphere of free thought and respect for the right of individuals to develop their own personal theologies can be a profound and refreshing change from more familiar and dogmatic organized religions.

Unitarian Universalism does not require adherence to any particular creed but encourages a willingness to learn from many sources of enlightenment -- including the teachings of many world religions, the arts, and science.

We welcome you and hope you will feel at home in our church community.

Purpose

The purpose of our Fellowship is to provide the experience and knowledge necessary for formulation of a religion or philosophy based on freedom and responsibility of belief, reason, and the evaluation of ideas. Our only accord is in the dignity of every human personality as expressed by our belief in the right of all persons to free religious expression and our desire for the continuing betterment of the human race.

Any person who is sympathetic with the purpose and program of the Fellowship may become a member by signing the Membership Book. Further information concerning this Fellowship or the Unitarian Universalist Association may be obtained by contacting the membership board member.

Member Responsibilities

Signing the Membership Book means that you have become a part of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Raleigh. Joining the church also signifies that you have decided to share in the personal and financial responsibilities members must assume if the church is to remain vital and supportive of its members, friends, and activities. Becoming a member allows you to vote on important offices and issues at congregational meetings.

Every fall UUFR holds its annual pledge drive during which all who participate in the Fellowship are asked to pledge a contribution according to their financial abilities. It is through this commitment that a budget may be drawn and through which our fine staff, programs, and facilities are made possible.
