A Special Welcome to Visitors and Newcomers

Hello, and thank you for visiting the UU Fellowship of Raleigh! Whether you’ve been attending services at our Wade Avenue campus for a while or are just checking out our website for the first time, welcome!

The UU Fellowship is a liberal community of people with many diverse faiths with traditions. Liberal Christians and conservative humanists both find their home here, as do Jews, Buddhists, and others who are simply seeking answers to life’s questions: Why are we here? What does it mean to be good, and why is there suffering in the world? What meaning can life have in the face of death? What role, if any, does God play in our lives? These topics and others are explored each Sunday during our 10:30 worship service.

If you have attended our Sunday morning worship you may find some similarity with Protestant worship services. We enjoy singing hymns (some of which may have familiar melodies), often have a quiet time for prayer or meditation, listen to a sermon, share laughter – and sometimes tears. We have an outstanding music program which you can explore by clicking here. And we have our own rituals as well. Each service begins with a chalice lighting which represents the light of truth and warmth of community. We set aside a part of each Sunday for sharing Joys & Sorrows, when members light a candle to mark poignant times in their lives. Our annual Ingathering Water Communion and Candlelight Christmas Eve, and Spring Flower Communion are just a few of the occasions we celebrate each year.

In addition to more than 400 adult members, we have nearly 200 children enrolled in our Youth Religious Education (YRE) program. Our children join us each week for the beginning of worship, then disperse to their classes for the morning. You can find out more about the YRE program by clicking here.

UUFR is a 7-day a week church, meaning that there is nearly always something going on around the Fellowship campus. A brief synopsis of upcoming events can be found by clicking here and more details can be found in our bi-weekly newsletter – call the Fellowship office at the number above for a copy of the most recent issue.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call. For general questions you can e-mail the Fellowship Office here. If you have questions of a more personal or spiritual nature you can send me a direct e-mail by clicking here

Thanks again for visiting our website. We look forward to seeing you in person soon!
