UUFR Adult Religious Education Archives: Feb 2005

Sunday, February 20 - ROAR

Presentation about one of our all-Congregation projects, Raleigh Organizing for Action & Results (ROAR), which empowers citizens to organize effective change in our community. Presented by Richard Kevin

February 13 "Buddhism for UU's - Part 3"

The third of three presentations on "Buddhism for UU's" -- the first two presented by Wally Myers and the last arranged by Wally:

Gelek Chodak, a Tibetan monk of over 30 years in the same tradition as the Dalai Lama, will offer practices that can bring some of our shared UU values into our hearts.

Wally has three questions that were asked for the monk to address:

1. Why should I wish people like Hitler to be happy and free from suffering? Should we not protect innocent people from those trying to harm them?

2. What is the relationship between attachment, covetousness, jealousy, and anger?

3. Can Buddhism be applied between nations?

Because the monk wants to carefully consider questions and English is not his native tongue, please e-mail any additional questions to Wally at MyersWally@hotmail.com so he can forward them to the monk.

Please join us for this authentic opportunity to deepen our understanding of our UU values.

February 6 Current Events

We'll be discussing "current events" and spend some time planning upcoming programs
