Living the Pledge to End Racism
UUFRs Anti-Racism Ministry Team can help get you equipped to transform yourself, our congregation, and our country.
Building racial justice takes all of us. UUFRs Anti-Racism Ministry (ARM) team, which coordinates the Fellowship’s racial justice work, invites you to participate in the “Living the Pledge to End Racism” workshop series. No matter how much you think you already know about race and racism, this workshop will give you new insight, as well as action steps to be actively anti-racist.
During the workshop, participants will:
- Explore their own experience with people of other race
- Examine their own implicit biases
- Learn how to speak up when they witness racist acts
Each participant develops an individualized action plan to support the work toward ending racism. Living the Pledge is suitable for both adults and high-school aged teens.
For all of us, this is a process, whether we’re working on our own attitudes toward race, raising awareness of implicit biases in our Fellowship, or addressing more overt racism in our communities. Join us for this important journey.
Workshop Dates: December 5, 12, and 19, 2020; January 9, 16, and 23, 2020 Saturdays from 10 am to noon
Virtual format: The workshop series will be held via Zoom. Participants must be comfortable using this online meeting platform. Ideally participants will have access to two internet-connected devices: cell phone, tablet, laptop, and/or computer. Two devices will allow participants to be on Zoom on the first device and participate in polls and other activities on the second device.
