Spiritual Practices Groups

Community of Mindful Living Buddhist Meditation Group
This Buddhism study/practice group meets 7:30-9:00 p.m. every Monday in the Clara Barton Room of Peace Hall for sitting meditation, reading, and practice support. Based primarily on the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh. Visit the Community of Mindful Living website. All are welcome.

Three Treasures Zen Group
Anyone interested in learning about Zen Buddhist practice and philosophy is invited to join us on Thursday evenings at 7:30 in the Dorothea Dix Room. We alternate weekly between group meditation and discussions over tea. Currently we are discussing the book, “Zen Mind, Beginner’s Mind,” but you do not need the book to join in. Our branch of Mahayana Zen developed in China and Japan beginning 1,200 years ago. We practice in the Soto/Rinzai lineage of Robert Aitken Roshi. While incorporating all the core aspects of Buddhism, Zen emphasizes the importance of zazen, or sitting meditation, as the most effective means to realizing one’s True Nature or Buddha Nature. The practice of zazen is simple, and the benefits flow into one’s everyday life, infusing it with clarity, peace and kindness. Contact: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
