Sunday Morning Forum meets for one hour on Sunday morning (9:30-10:30). Our purpose is to expose ourselves to topics of current relevance. Sometimes we have videos to get us started. We always have lively discussion.
On Sunday, February 4, Sunday Morning Forum will feature a presentation by Bo Chagnon on Neoliberalism, which he describes as:
- entrusting our well-being to the market, and
- cost externalization (relieving the market of responsibility for our well-being).
The presentation will be divided into a 15-minute presentation on neoliberalism, a 15- minute discussion, a 15-minute presentation on cost externalization, and a final 15-minute discussion.
To fit this into a larger context, liberalism developed in the 19th and 20th centuries with three branches:
- religious liberalism
- socialist liberalism
- humanist liberalism
All of these supported the ideas of individualism, human rights, democracy and free markets.
