On May 15, Wellspring features a guest speaker on “Violence and How to Stop It“. Guest speaker Dr. Margaret Zahn, Professor of Sociology and Anthropology, NC State, will examine types of violence in the United State, including domestic violence, mass shootings and potential terrorism. Potential solutions including gun control, policing strategies, mental health, and economic approaches will be explored.
Also on May 15 is: UUFR Owns Low-Income Housing. Interested in Info? Did you know that UUFR is part-owner of a 100-unit low-income apartment complex on Method Road called RICH PARK Apartments? Come learn about how our church, another predominantly white church, and three black churches built this complex in 1968 with an investment of $2000 per church, and how they have kept it going until now, providing safe affordable housing for thousands of people during 50 years. Presented by Rich Park board members.

Wellspring is a series of classes offered every Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. from September to May. Its mission is to bring people of all ages and interests together in small groups to learn about a variety of topics and enjoy each other’s company. Wellspring is open to all, and with few exceptions, there is no cost to attend and no need to sign up in advance. Please join us – and feel free to bring a guest!
