UUFR Fellowship Circles

Fellowship Circles Resource Page

What are Fellowship Circles?

Fellowship Circles are ongoing small groups which meet on their own schedules (typically once a month) in people's homes. These are lay-led groups that are free to choose their own discussion topics. Fellowship Circles are open to all adult members and friends of the fellowship. If you are interested in joining a circle, please contact Wendy Gates Corbett (919-870-0581) or Kathie McCutcheon (919-359-9876). Registration forms can be downloaded here and mailed directly to the Fellowship at the address at the top of this page.

Common sense and our own experience tells us that what Bob Hill says is correct -- that people expect something special and different when they come to church. Many come to be a part of something larger than themselves. Many come to find meaning and depth in their own lives. Many come for discussion about the Big Questions and to connect with others.

In UU churches and fellowships across the continent, congregations are finding new ways to provide opportunities for connections. This becomes more and more important as congregations grow larger. No one can know everyone in this 500-member congregation; it was hard enough when UUFR was 100 members!

The movement within Unitarian Universalism is toward "small group ministries," and our own Fellowship Circles are one kind of such ministry. Also known as "covenant groups," small group ministries consist of about ten members and friends of the congregation that meet regularly in a format designed to bring the group closer together in friendship and ministry to one another.

UUFR provides resources including session topics for facilitators, as well as links to other fellowships' small group ministry programs.
