OWL (Sexuality Education)
Honest, accurate information about sexuality changes lives. It dismantles stereotypes and assumptions, builds self-acceptance and self-esteem, fosters healthy relationships, improves decision making, and has the potential to save lives. For these reasons and more, we are proud to offer Our Whole Lives (OWL), a comprehensive, lifespan sexuality education curricula that helps participants make informed and responsible decisions about their sexual health and behavior by providing accurate, developmentally appropriate information about a range of topics, including relationships, gender identity, sexual orientation, sexual health, and cultural influences on sexuality.
Our Whole Lives is firmly based on four core values with respect to sexuality:
- self worth
- sexual health
- justice and inclusivity
Our Whole Lives recognizes and respects the diversity of participants with respect to biological sex, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, and disability status.
Please note that advanced registration and regular attendance is required. 8th Grade OWL registration is closed for the 2018-2019 year.
Have you ever thought about becoming an OWL class facilitator? Now is your chance!
UUFR will be hosting an Our Whole Lives (OWL) sexuality education facilitator training on Friday, August 16th through Sunday, August 18th.
We are in need of adults to receive training and lead OWL classes here at our fellowship. Since UUFR will be hosting the training, there will be no cost to members. We are asking people who take the training to commit to co-facilitating the OWL curriculum at the grade level they train for at least twice.
Trainings are for the elementary OWL classes (which train you to lead the Grades K-1 or 4-6 classes) and middle school/high school OWL classes (for Grades 7-9 and 10-12).
For more info and to see if you would be a good candidate for OWL facilitator training contact Chris Breivogel at, [email protected] or 919-801-7180.
