Learning Circles are groups that meet at specific times (and for a finite number of meetings) for discussion of a specific topic. They may invite speakers or use books, curricula, or videos as topics.
Learning Circles are led by a facilitator, whose function is to help the group's conversation to remain on course, to assist more quiet members in being heard, and to assist the group in its collective communication. Facilitators must attend facilitator training and should select their resources, topics, and course dates by JUNE 1 (submission deadline for the UUFR handbook).
Workshops are classes that meet at specific times (and for a finite number of meetings) for instruction on a specific topic or for guided activity. (For example, painting as spiritual practice, intergenerational yoga, financial planning, etc.)
Workshops are led by teachers, working in coordination with the DRE. Teachers may not charge fees for Workshops and are able to use UUFR space designated for religious education. Teachers may also set guidelines for ages in the Workshops. Teachers should submit dates, course descriptions, and biographical information to the DRE by June 1 for publication in the UUFR handbook.
