More about Scott

Scott has been making music professionally as a conductor/music director/vocal teacher for more than 20 years. He has conducted countless musical theater, opera, and choral music projects across the United States and worked internationally as a Music Director for Holland America Line.

Educated in piano performance and conducting at Cincinnati Conservatory and Indiana University School of Music, Scott has created a substantial career conducting, teaching, and performing as a classical and jazz pianist. He has been fortunate to work with many accomplished artists, including Tony Randall (Music Man), Florence Henderson (Sound of Music) and Tony award winning choreographer Thommie Walsh.

After living in San Francisco, New York, and Charlotte, Scott now makes his home in Raleigh. He has won numerous awards for his conducting and original works, most recently a nod from the “Independent Weekly” for his work on Raleigh Little Theatre’s “Rocky Horror Show” and” Caroline or Change.” Scott served as full-time Artistic Director for Carolina Voices in Charlotte, a huge non-profit umbrella organization for five choirs and famed for the oldest “Singing Christmas Tree” production.

An accomplished and caring vocal coach, Scott is proud of his many students that have been accepted into the best music and theatre college programs, including NYU, Boston Conservatory, NC School of the Arts, and Carnegie Mellon. Many of these students continued on to careers in film and on Broadway.

Scott continues to teach and conduct and is also expanding his career to include writing and composing for film.

Scott enjoys bringing new music experiences to the choir to UUFR.
