Adult Enrichment Series: Each Sunday morning, 9:00 am upstairs in the Clara Barton Room, Peace Hall. On holiday weekends there are discussions of current events. See the UUFR Adult Religious Education page for information about future and past topics.
Bi-Monthly Book Club: Read and discuss a new book every other month. Please contact drpauls@bellsouth.net to get on the mailing list.
Board Meeting: The UUFR Board of Directors meets the 4th Wednesday of the month at 7pm in Founders Hall.
Bridge Group: Anyone who enjoys playing bridge is welcome. The group meets at a different member's house the first Saturday of each month. Snacks and drinks are provided, and a good time is had by all. Bridge Group contact Abbie Modjeska, amodjesk@nc.rr.com.
Care Committee: Every member and friend of UUFR is automatically a Care Committee member. The Care Committee provides compassionate care and support for our congregation. For more information, check out our web page or email the Care Committee.
Choir: Everyone is welcome to participate in one of the UUFR choirs. Please see the Music page for details!
Community of Mindful Living - UUFR, a Buddhist Meditation Group: This study/practice group meets 7:30pm-9:00pm every Monday in the Clara Barton Room of Peace Hall for sitting meditation, reading, and practice support. Based primarily on the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh. Visit the Community of Mindful Living website. All are welcome.
Family Activities: All visiting and member families are invited to join in a variety of ongoing activities and special events for fun, fellowship, and support. These activities/events provide opportunities for adults and children to interact with other families that share similar values and beliefs. Click here for more details.
Fellowship Circles are ongoing small groups which meet on their own schedules (typically once a month) in people's homes. These are lay-led groups that are free to choose their own discussion topics. Fellowship Circles are open to all adult members of the fellowship. If you are interested in joining a circle, please contact Wendy Gates Corbett (870-0581) or Kathie McCutcheon (359-9876).
Friday Folkie Forum meets every second Friday at 7:30 pm in the Clara Barton room. Come, bring your songbooks, voices, and instruments for an evening of fellowship, music and songs from the folk era and acoustic music tradition. Everyone is encouraged to come share songs and pick together in an informal and low-key atmosphere.
Full Moon Woman Circle: An open group of shared leadership which provides opportunities to develop ritual and celebrate our lives and our connection with the sacred feminine. The joys and responsibilities of planning the ritual are rotated between individuals or small groups. We meet monthly at the time of the full moon, usually in the Clara Barton Room of Peace Hall at 7:00pm Please bring a snack to share afterward and festive dress is always in style! Interweave: Interweave is a membership organization affiliated with the Unitarian Universalist Association, dedicated to the spiritual, political, and social well-being of Unitarian Universalists who are confronting oppression as lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender persons, and their heterosexual allies; and facilitates the celebration of the culture and lives of its members. The Interweave group at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Raleigh holds social events at various venues throughout the year. Joint Council:The UUFR Joint Council (Administative and Program Council Chairs) meet on the first Tuesday of the month in the main room, first floor of Fellowship Hall.
Journey Towards Wholeness Anti-Racism Task Force: This group's mission is to inspire its members and others to actively oppose racism locally and globally. Everyone at UUFR is encouraged to participate in any activities. Watch for activity announcements in The Chalice.
Music Together with Suzanne ia a once-a-week class that meets for 45 minutes in the Music room during the week. Children from birth to 5 years accompanied by guardians get together to explore music and songs from different cultures. You are welcome to just visit a class. Second Friday Potluck: Monthly, 6:15pm in the Clara Barton Room, Peace Hall. All are welcome. Second Friday pot luck is an event not to be missed. Bring a dish to share, and join us for an eating extravaganza and stimulating evening with your fellow UUs.
Source Force meets the 3rd Saturday of every month from 8 am-2 pm at UUFR. Source Force is an event that helps people in our community living with AIDS or cancer that are at or near the poverty level. If you would like more information or to volunteer call UUFR member Gisella Fleming at 468-5424.
Taoist Tai Chi is a gentle art of health and well-being for people of all ages and health conditions. Many thousands of people are enjoying the health benefits of Taoist Tai Chi practice in approximately 500 locations in 25 countries around the world. Classes meet Thursdays in the Clara Barton room at 6:30 pm. People who practice Taoist Tai Chi improve balance, increase flexibility, decrease bone density loss, relieve pain and stiffness from arthritis, boost the immune system, and relax and enjoy a moving meditation. Wednesday Night Dinner: Hungry, don't feel like cooking, want some
company at dinner? Then this is the place for you. Make reservations by
signing up on the poster in the Fellowship Hall Lobby or emailing the
LSLiles@gmail.com before 5:00pm Monday. Please do not call the administrative office. Drop-ins can sometimes be accommodated after 6:30pm. This event is a group effort and everyone helps with set-up and clean-up. Volunteers may also sign up to help with the cashier check-in. The regular price is adults - $7.50, children between 5 & 12 - $3.50 and free for those under 5. Check The Chalice or the sign-up poster for schedule & menus.
