Social Action Financial ReportThe members and friends of UUFR generously supported social justice work in Wake County, North Carolina, the United States and the international community through the Fourth and Fifth Sunday collections in 2008. $12,051 was collected during 4th Sundays for an average of $1004/Sunday. See below for a list of organizations that received 4th Sunday funds. $4276 was collected during the four 5th Sunday collections, providing between $942 and $1334 to the UU Service Committee, RICH Park's tutoring program, Interfaith Power and Light, and Voices Together. The Social Action Committee allocated the funds based on the need of groups working on poverty/sickness relief, peace/equal rights, and sustainability. A formal request was completed by each group and then discussed by the committee. Decisions are based on important considerations such as relationship to the UU Principles and Purposes, 501(c)3 status and urgency of the need for the funds. Contact: Diann Irwin.
