Interfaith Food Shuttle Volunteer Opportunities

The Interfaith Food Shuttle provides many opportunities for individual and group volunteer projects. All volunteers must complete the Interfaith Food Shuttle volunteer form.

Individual Volunteer Opportunities

  • Food Rescue. Drivers and Drivers' Assistants needed. Drivers must be age 21 to 80 with a North Carolina driver's license; Drivers's Assistants must be age 15 or older. Vehicles are small, automatic transmission, box trucks. Volunteer times: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Contact: This email address is being protected from spambots. Individual or Group Volunteer Opportunities

  • Farm and Community Garden. Volunteer to garden at a six-acre community farm just off Tryon Road in Raleigh. Volunteers set their own schedules; crew call is held every Saturday morning. Contact: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
  • Field Gleaning. Volunteer to glean usable leftover produce from local participating farmers and gardeners. Individual volunteers usually needed on a short notice; group gleaning projects can be arranged in advance. Contact: This email address is being protected from spambots.   • Grocery Bag Prep. Groups needed to make and deliver grocery bags to low-income seniors or families. The group works in a production line to bag food, then distributes the bags. Project duration: About two hours. Size of group: 15 people maximum. Children under age 12 welcome, with adult supervisors.
