More about Rev. Sasha

Rev. Sasha shares the following about herself…

“I grew up as the second of three children in the Phoenix suburbs. My parents raised me Unitarian Universalist and I felt the call to UU ministry while still in high school. As a result, ministry was one of my first professions, after working during college and graduate school as an accounting administrative assistant for 2 companies.

“After earning my B.A. in Religious Studies at Arizona State University, I attended seminary at the Starr King School for the Ministry in Berkeley, California. Three years later, after completing my Master of Divinity degree, I served for a year as the Ministerial Intern at the First Unitarian Society of Madison, Wisconsin. I then accepted a position as Assistant Minister here at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Raleigh and have been here now for over 8 years.

“I find my work with UUFR’s members and staff fulfilling and have enjoyed witnessing the ways that the congregation has changed and grown over the years. I believe this is a community that does a lot of good work in the world, and I eagerly anticipate the ways the Fellowship will continue to do so in the future.

“I live in Raleigh with my partner Smokie and our elderly calico cat, who we’ve been trained to address as ‘Her Excellence.’

“Together, Smokie and I enjoy reading and watching science fiction and fantasy books, shows and movies; exploring interesting places; and playing tabletop role-playing games like Dungeons and Dragons. In my own time, I also enjoy writing science fiction and fantasy stories and learning to figure skate at local ice rinks.”
